Roxanne leaned up against the railing outside the control room. She was resting on her elbows, fascinated by what she saw below. Many faces muddled about, some she had seen on the ship, some she surmised had been here for a while, as she didn't recognize them. She could sense there were things going on that weren't being spoken of by some sad expressions on certain personnel. This was part of the reason she was here, and it was going to be a duanting task, but she was up for it. Hearing approaching voices, she turned and saw Colonel Sheppard and a familiar face from the vessel which brought her here. {{Tag to Sheppard}}

Sgt. Cambell moved his hands over the laptop's keys, bringing up several weight distribution schematics. He sighed as he noticed the power drain required to keep the city stable with the "Daedalus" docked and frowned. 'Maybe I can talk to Zelenka about them docking the ship on the mainland.' He mused before returning to his duties.

John entered the control room with Rayne, nodding to a few people as he passed them. He led Rayne to the balcony and gestured down at the Stargate. "So... what d'you think?"

After a short walk and a floor change or two Dr Baldwin lead Rory out onto one of the balconys near the Control Room. Rory looked down at the Gate below them studying how different it looked to the one back home, not that she had seen it up close that much. There had been the odd training mission in the run up to the Atlantis Expedition and a trip or two to the Alpha and Beta sites to see how they worked. She had how ever studied all the available information and mission files that she had been provided with.

"Beautiful isn't it?" Kate asked with a smile. "Oh and before I forget, there's someone who wants to talk to you."

Rory gave the usual O'Neill confused look, wondering who would want to talk to her 'what have I done wrong now' she thought. Then Dr Baldwin gave her a cheeky smile that set her at ease, Rory returned the smile. Rory followed the Doctor into the main control room.

Post by Agent Rayne Brauer on May 4, 2006 18:05:13 GMT -5
Rayne's eyes had been eagerly devouring the design and architecture of Atlantis since leaving the Daedalus docking platform but when Sheppard lead her to the balchony there was something about the sight of the huge room and the Stargate that made her suddenly feel as if she were in another galaxy. She'd seen many places in the world more elegant, more earthy, more beautiful in many ways but nothing so completely different from anything she'd ever known. The only time she'd felt this independent had been in Europe -before the CIA- when her life was entirely her own. Even then she'd been young, had doubts as to her own abilities, she'd still been unsure... Now home, earth, and the Central Intelligence Agency were in another galaxy and she felt almost as if the ties had been cut. It had been years since she'd allowed herself to imagine this kind of life, this kind of...freedom. "Yeah baby" she whispered to herself.

In SGC Walter tell Jack that his niece is on line, he grabs the mic and puts his face as close as possible to the camera. "Hi there kiddo. How you doing?" Jack moves his hand up and down the camera as if trying to touch her head. "Ooops, sorry, Lt. Rory O'Neill, how are you finding Atlantis? Are you squared away in your quarters and done the $0.25 tour?"

Rory stood infront of the screen and a huge grin came over her face as Uncle Jack appeared on the screen, goofy as ever. She laughed at him calling her kiddo and then correcting himself. "Hey General O'Neill" she came to attention and accentuated the word 'General'. "Just getting the tour now and quarters are sorted , not quite my usual style but Im sure I can adapt and overcome. Hows Elliot getting on? Has he wrecked the house yet?" She knew he wouldnt have but it was the longest he'd ever been on his own and she had to admit feeling a little anxious about leaving her younger brother alone. 'I hope Kira is taking care of him' she thought, knowing how useless he was at cooking and that his girlfriend had promissed she would make sure he was ok.

John watched Rayne's reaction with raised eyebrows. "Pretty impressive, isn't it?" he said, then grinned outright. "Just wait till you step through the thing."

Roxanne straightened herself and approached Colonel Sheppard. "Hello, Colonel Sheppard." She extended her hand. "It is pretty amazing..." She said as she looked down at the gate. "Who is this with you, if you don't mind my asking? I'm just trying to get to know everyone." She smiled shyly, she didn't want to be too nosy. Even with her job, she always felt awkward meeting others if they weren't her patient. Most people weren't fond of those in the mental health profession.

"Hey, nice to meet you," he greeted Roxanne, giving her hand a firm shake. "This is Agent Rayne Brauer," he added, gesturing to his companion. "I don't believe I know your name?"

"That would help wouldn't it?" Roxanne mentally slapped herself. "I'm Dr. Sterling, but you can call me Roxanne. It's nice to meet you both. I saw you on the Daedalus Agent Brauer. I would have said hello, but with all the excitement and the people, it was rather hectic. I'm looking forward to working with you both." Again, she chastised herself. Oh my, they probably think I'm going to head shrink them already.

"Ah!, Elliot and I are coming on like a house on fire. He is a cool kid. Before you know it, he will be right behind you following your lead into the Air Force. " Jack thought , did I come off as wanting the kid out of his life. " By the way, Kira is fattening him up with all her yummy cooking". He licks his lips and rubs his stomach saying this and making sure it can be all seen on the screen. "So with what you have seen so far, what do you think of the place, Lt.?" He tried to say this with a more general 's voice.

"Ive only seen a fraction of the place but its awesome" Rory was trying not to laugh at her uncles antics on the screen. She was pleased that Elliot was ok but not sure about the comment about him joining the airforce, he had studies to finnish first. "How about you everything ok with you and err" she stopped her self making a quick correction "and err the cat!" she winked at him knowing full well he had no cat and hoping he would get who she was talking about.
