Carson Beckett glanced over his medical charts on the young Amy Sheppard. Nothing was abnormal, "How are ye feelin' lass?"

"I don't know." Amy sat on one of the beds, staring at the floor. "Depressed, I guess."

Carson nodded before tossing the file on the bed and pulling over a chair, sitting down, "And ye dislike talking to Dr. Heightmeyer right?"

"She and I... don't get along," replied Amy carefully. "Kind of different personalities." She smiled halfheartedly, still looking at the floor.

"Aye. Well I'm glad you came to talk to me." Carson smiled. "So what's makin' ye depressed?"

"I don't know." Amy shifted on the bed. "I feel so out of it, so... I don't know. It's just... difficult to explain." She finally looked up at him, a helpless expression on her face. "I've been having nightmares... bad ones."

"For how long?" Carson asked, raising his brow.

Amy cleared her throat and looked down again. "Um... about a week, I think. No, the first one was... ten days ago."

"Ok," Carson nodded, "Wha do ye think caused them to start up?"

Amy shrugged dispiritedly. "It could've been anything. I don't even remember exactly what I was doing ten days ago, but that only means it was nothing out of the ordinary. I suppose McKay could've said something particularly nasty, or maybe John was in a bad mood."

"Why do ya let Rodney get to you." Carson asked with a smile, "I swear if we all did we'd all be havin' nightmares."
He leaned back slightly in his chair, "Could it be about the new arrivals?"

"But he hates me," Amy protested. "He can't stand to be in the same room with me. What new arrivals?" She'd been kicked out of the lab (again) by the man in question before they were informed that a new wave of personnel were about to arrive.

"Rodney doesn' hate anyone lass." Carson said, trying to decide what was going to be the best way to break the news to the teen. "And the Daedalus just docked, a new group of personnel have arrived."

"Oh." Amy chewed her lip. She would have expected her brother to warn her, but maybe he'd just forgotten. He was only human, after all. After a few moments of silence, she looked up at the doctor. "Can I just lie down for a little while? I have a bit of a headache." The headache was actually an excuse that she often used when she needed a little time to just not be bothered by anyone -- but Beckett knew that, anyway.

"Aye of course lass." Carson smiled and nodded standing up and rolling his chair away. "I'll get ye a glass of water too."
