Radek led Roxanne into the mess before offering her a seat at one of the tables, "If you wish, I can bring you something?"

"Um, how about you surprise me? You seem to know what's good." Roxanne smiled. She was feeling more comfortable with Radek, and she appreciated his kindness to her. She felt a bit of anattraction towards him. Oh jeez woman, chill out, you just met.

Radek smiled at her holding up one finger before he headed off to get food. He returned to the table several minutes later with two pieces of pie and two mugs. He sat down, putting a plate before Roxanne, explaining the food as he went, "I do not know if you like pie - but even if you don't, this is very good. It is chocolate chip. And I was unsure of a drink but I brought you tea - is that acceptable?"
He held out a mug for her.

"Oh its fantastic, thank you Dr. Zalenka." She took the mug of tea and sipped it. "Mmmm...thats good." She then grabbed her fork and dove into the pie. "Oh, this is better than se..." Roxanne stopped herself. "Better than...home. Who would think the food here, on a scientific expedition would be so good?"

"I can do that." Roxanne took another bite of her pie. "So, can you tell me how you ended up here?"

Radek smiled, sipping his tea, "I can but you would be utterly bored with the tale. It is not exciting or interesting in the least. What about you?"

"I was working in D.C. in a private practice and had helped some of the big wigs at the Pentagon deal with some issues. I guess they liked me, so I got sent directly to the Pentagon for a while. They liked bouncing me around, so I got moved again to Colorado, and worked with people from the S.G.C. When the spot opened for Atlantis, they asked if I wanted it, and here I am." Her reply was quick and almost script like, and she didn't quite make eye contact. She had left out some details, and she hoped Radek couldn't pick up on it.

Radek smiled softly at the woman, "Well," he said raising his mug to hers, "To choosing Atlantis."

Roxanne imitated his gesture and raised her mug. "To Atlantis." She smiled and took a sip of her tea.

Looking down at her watch, she sucked in a breath. "Oh jeez, I really should get back and see how everyone is doing. Rory should be back from the mainland by now too." Roxanne quickly finished her pie and tea, and cleaned up her place at the table. "Would you like to come? Maybe you and Beckett can put your heads together and figure this out if he's gotten the test results back."

"Ah, well thank you for the invitation but I do have several tests of my own to run on the control crystals within the control room." Radek smiled standing up himself, "It was a pleasure to meet you Roxanne. I will see you again soon?"

Roxanne gave Radek a big smile as she got up from the table. She reached over and squeezed him arm affectionately. "Absolutely. Maybe dinner one evening. Thank you for...well, this, and listening. I appreciate it."

Roxanne felt a twinge of hurt. Nothing??? Okay, wait a minute, don't get ahead of yourself. It was just lunch. "Well, I should go." She turned and headed out to the infirmary.
