Roxanne arrived and sat down on the metal floor. She swung her legs over the edge of the balcony, and they dangled over the water. This was one of the few that really didn't have a large view of the city, it mostly consisted of the ocean. On the left in the distance she could see the landing dock for the Daedelus. Leaning her head through the rails, she looked down. "Oh, wow, must be 150 feet down. So glad for railings." She said to herself.
She placed the cd in the player and put the headphones on. Pressing the play button, she folded her arms on the railing and placed her chin on them, looking out over the water. The blues and greens of the water were different from Earth. The colors seemed more vibrant. The sky was similar in the way the colors flowed. It was quiet here, a place where the music could move through her, ease her from the cares of the day. How beautiful, and how sad. She couldn't comprehend how such a place of beauty could be such a place of war at times, but she remembered Earth, and how similar everything was in the grand scheme of things.
The music flowed out through the ear pieces. She first heard it around the time she had to let her go, to give her a chance. The words haunted her in a way, but it was her wish for the one she left behind.
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin' might mean takin' chances but they're worth takin'
Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth makin'
Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter
When you come close to sellin' out reconsider
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance...I hope you dance
Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone.
The song always made her cry, but in that release, it made her feel better. She always told her patients that tears help wash away the pains of life. So she let hers fall as she watched the rainbows of color ripple through the ocean below.
